In 1963 at the Willowbrook State School a study was carried out with children that were mentally handicapped. Students were deliberately infected with Hepatitis C in order to see the natural occurrence of the disease. The scientists justified this by saying that many of the students were already infected anyway. Students were either fed extracts from stools or purified injections to obtain the disease.
